O/N TEHRAN
Arriving in Tehran in the morning. Nadiatrip’s tour director welcomes you at Imam Khomeini International Airport.
Then directly on the way we will visit The mausoleum of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The shrine is flanked by four 91m-high towers symbolizing Khomeini’s age when he died. The huge gold central dome is adorned with 72 tulips, which symbolize the 72 martyrs who fought and died with Imam Hossein in Karbala.
Inside the vast main hall, covered with 12,000 carpets each 12 sq. meters, Khomeini's tomb itself is enclosed in a stainless steel zarih, a cage-like casing through which pilgrims pay their respects and no small number of bank notes. Men and women approach respectfully from different sides.
Construction of the complex, covering 20 sq km, began in 1989, but parts of it are yet to be completed. The plan is for the ceiling of the interior to be covered with tiny mirrors, as is the case with many other Shia shrines.
After that we will visit another shrine which is an outstanding and excellent example of holy shrine in southern part of capital city Tehran.
Shah Abdol Azim was a fifth generation descendant of Hasan ibn ‘Ail and a companion of Muhammad al-Taqī . He was entombed here after his death in the 9th century.
Adjacent to the shrine, within the complex, include the mausoleum of Imamzadeh Tahir (son of the fourth Shia Imam Sajjad) and Imamzadeh Hamzeh (brother of the eight Imam - Imam Reza).
Mosaic tiling and mirrors decorations, installation of painting doors, carved, inlaid works and repairing the shrine and establishing the long minarets as well as building facade in the main and other courtyards was done in Qajar era; however, Hazrate Abdolazim (peace be upon him) dome has been covered by golden copper clay and the long minarets established in 19th century.
Then we drive to Tajrish Bazar, in Tajrish square in the northern part of Tehran. it comes to classic Iranian shopping experiences, Tajrish bazar including food market, green groceries, different bakeries and tasting many Iranian pickles and variety of nuts (such as pistachio), dates and Iranian pastries, a few fresh Culinary Essentials and spices (such as saffron) and tea, unique to this part of the world. browsing the food stalls at this photogenic bazar in upmarket Tajrish pretty much nails it.
One of Tehran's most attractive shrines, Imamzadeh Saleh provides a photogenic focus to Tajrish Sq. with its twin minarets and dome covered in beautiful patterned turquoise tiles: it looks especially stunning towards sunset.
In the evening, it is time to visit and walking through Tabi'at Bridge (nature bridge) which is the largest pedestrian overpass Tehran. The 270-metre bridge connects two public parks.
